Walking Around the City & Safety FIRST!
As a friendly reminder, please always be aware of your surroundings. Although Hawaii is fairly safe state, never let your guard down.
When crossing streets, never ever J-walk. Not only is it unsafe, but if caught, you will be cited $75.00! Honolulu streets are highly congested with many cars traveling narrow roads and busy intersections. We encourage conference attendees to always use crosswalks, preferably those controlled by street lights. If this is not possible, always practice good sense when crossing any city street. Maintaining eye contact with drivers prior to even stepping into a crosswalk is good practice! We want everyone to enjoy their conference experience in Hawaii by being safe FIRST!

Bicycle, Moped, and Motorcycle Rentals
There are a number of places where you can rent bikes from on a daily to sometimes fixed hours basis. Some places even offer bike tours if you are interested in guided tours of certain areas of the city. For more information on some rental places located conveniently in Waikiki:
Hawaii does not currently have a helmet law that requires bike riders to wear helmets, however, we do encourage you to wear one if you opt to use these services. Hawaii streets are congested and busy so wearing a helmet is a good way to stay safe as you travel unfamiliar roadways and enjoy the views of the city.
Airport to Waikiki TransportationA number of options are available to get you from Honolulu International Airport to Waikiki.
