Day 1
Pearl Harbor Historical Sites
Visit the beginning and end of World War II by visiting the Arizona and Missouri Memorials.
Tip: Plan to do this early in the day when the memorial first opens (7:30 a.m.). If you go later in the day, plan on waits of two hours or more.
Visit Chinatown
Maunakea Street
Kekaulike Market
Chinese Cultural Plaza
Have some dim sum for lunch at the Chinese Cultural Plaza. (Here are some suggestions)
- Fook Lam
- Tai Pan
- Legend
Honolulu Historical District
Walk off lunch by visiting:
- Hear the Royal Hawaiian Band (the only full time municipal band in the United States) Fridays at Iolani Palace Band Stand (12 noon)
Attend a Luau
A must for a first time visitor to Hawaii. Have a feast of Hawaiian food and be entertained by Hawaiian musicians, chanters, and hula dancers.
Day 2
Visit Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve
A spectacular marine preserve, Hanauma Bay is a great place for swimming and snorkeling. Due to its popularity, go early. Closed on Tuesdays.
On the way back to your Hotel, have lunch at an island institution. A favorite of local beach goers, swimmers, & surfers since 1961.
Learn about Hawaiian History
No visit to Oahu is complete without a visit to the Bishop Museum. Hawaii Hall has a large collection of historical artifacts. For your children, there is often some sort of special exhibition going on.
Polynesian Pageant and Fireworks Show
The Hilton Hawaiian Village (Convention Hotel) has a Polynesian Pageant on Friday nights starting at 6:45 p.m. culminating with a fireworks show at 8 p.m.
